Social gaming company meets milestone
Playfish hits 100 million installed games 0

Playfish, the social gaming company which was recently profiled on Pocket-lint, has announced that it’s met a pretty impressive milestone – 100 million of its games have been installed.

The company relies on social networks to spread its games, such as Fcebook, MySpace and Bebo. It formed 18 months ago and is agressively expanding, having released seven games – all of which have made the Facebook top 10.

The company’s most popular game – Pet Society – is played by 12 million people each month, and the newest is Restaurant City which launched in April and has seen 5 million installs in ten weeks.

“Reaching 100 million installs in such a short time is clear proof of social gaming’s popularity and how loyal, enthusiastic and deeply engaged the Playfish community is”, said Playfish’s co-founder Kristian Segerstrale.

Classic games rendered in Lego
Lego Arcade 0

Michael Hickox is a YouTube user who’s rather adept at stop-motion animation using Lego. His latest video pulls in all manner of retro gaming fun, from Asteroids to Space Invaders.

He’s also got a tonne of other videos on his YouTube channel which we highly recommend checking out, including homages to Super Mario and Donkey Kong.

There’s plenty of other retro arcade game Lego videos on YouTube, but Hickox’s work is some more of the more impressive we’ve seen. It certainly gives us a hankering for the golden age of videogames.
