Over in the US, the state of Maine has put in an order for 64,000 Apple MacBooks to make a major expansion of Maine’s technology initiative for middle and high schools, and the huge order comes via the state Department of Education.
The state has been supplying Apple MacBooks under the Maine Learning Technology Initiative to middle schools since 2002 and is now expanding into all public high schools.
Although the state does say Apple has to compete with other computer makers for the first and latest contracts, and Maine will order an additional 7,000 over the coming weeks.
