Pics of the magnetic induction charger in action
We got a chance to get our hands on Powermat’s wireless charging system recently, and took the opportunity to get one or two photos which we’re pleased to share with you.
The magnetic induction technology behind it seems to work well for iPhone and BlackBerry users, but it seems a little inconvenient for owners of other gadgets. The company admits this, saying that the number one audience is owners of RIM and Apple’s handsets.
If you’re in that rather exclusive club, and have somewhere suitable for putting the powermat, then it seems like a good – if slightly expensive – choice. The mat costs £70, the travel version is £80, and the cases for your mobile cost around £30. They’ll all be available in the first week of October.

15 searches for less than £20
A new mobile phone tracking service is now available for – depending on what cost of bundle you go for – what works out as from 15p per search.
From the company behind www.traceamobile.co.uk and www.mobilelocators.com, the new service is offering new tariffs that see, for example, a one-off payment of £19.98, the lowest tariff available, getting 15 “search credits”.
The searches work across Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2 and are said to be accurate to within 50 to 100 metres in mainland Great Britain in areas of good network coverage.
